1. General questions
1.1 Who is Curaguru?
Curaguru is a fintech company, founded in 2020 in Malaysia, based in KL and providing Instalment plan payment option to the individual clients of various Healthcare providers, including Dental clinics, Eye and Hearing clinics. We're cooperating with the best clinics in Malaysia to make their services more affordable for their clients.
1.2 What services Curaguru is proposing to patients?
Curaguru is facilitating paying for various medical expenses by 3-24 monthly installments, making it easier for the clients to get care they need or want at various Healthcare providers. Check the list of participating clinics here.
1.3 What instalment plan tenures are available?
Current plans available: 3x, 4x ("0% Plan"), 6x, 12x, 18x and 24x ("Smart plan") monthly instalments.
1.4 What will be the overpayment for the patient in case of using Curaguru Installment plan?
There will be no overpayment (0%) in case of short term plans of 3x/4x monthly payments ("0% Plan"), 1%/mo overpayment for 6x/12x and 1.25% for 18x/24x ("Smart plan"). There will be no any processing or admin or the other fees. To choose the optimal plan you can use calculator​.
1.5 What are the main customer requirements towards patients?
a. Malaysian citizenship
b. Age 18years and above
c. Stable source of income of rm1500/mo and above
d. Sufficient payment capacity for pay monthly installment
1.6 What types of healthcare services can be financed by Curaguru using 0% instalment plan?
Any dental services including implants, braces, aligners, veneers, root canal treatment, crowns, minor surgery, general dental treatment.
Eye (incl.lasik) and hearing treatment and other services provided by clinics cooperating with Curaguru. Check the list of participating clinics here.
Important: Curaguru is only financing the whole treatment scope with the full treatment price reflected in the invoice, at the same time the client can always make a higher #1 installment of up to 99% of the treatment price. Curaguru also is not financing part of the treatment, when the other part of it is financed using clinic's inhouse installment plan or by the other providers (e.g.BNPLs).
1.7 What documents should patient sign to get 0% instalment plan?
The following documents are required to be signed by both patient and the clinic's authorized representative:
i. medical services agreement between the patient and the clinic
ii Instalment invoice (Curaguru will provide draft of the invoice to the clinic together with online application approval confirmation in email), containing Instalment repayment schedule details such as Installment amount, due dates, etc.
1.8 How the patient should apply for Installment plan?
Applicant will only need to apply online in minutes (use "Apply now" button on the main screen at curaguru.com) and Curaguru team will do the rest, including helping with choosing the right clinic (whenever required). Applying online will require NRIC (front & back side photos) only. No need to visit Curaguru office or provide any other documents except NRIC.
Curaguru team is processing all online requests immediately and will inform the applicant about Installment plans available via email at soonest.
1.9 What is a typical turn around time for compiling proposal after submitting online application?
Within 9am-6pm on weekdays applicant's online evaluation check results and the list of Installment plans available (together with drafts of invoices for signing) are provided within 1 hour, but is a subject to applicant's contactability. In case of high service price or if application is sent on non-working hours/weekend/holidays - processing time can be longer. In most cases when applicant is contactable online application is processed within 15min.
1.10 Are there any other products/services Curaguru is providing to the patients?
After successful instalment plan repayment, Curaguru is providing a credit line to the clients. Credit line will be available for the patients to be used to finance any healthcare services within the clinics cooperating with Curaguru.
2. Product related questions
2.1 How exact monthly payment date is defined for the patient?
#1 instalment is payable to the clinic (via cash, bankcard, bank transfer, etc.) on the same day with medical agreement and Installment invoice signing. So typically its the day of starting getting care.
#2 and the rest installment are payable directly to CG on the specified day (defined in accordance with patient's online application) of the following month(s) via DirectDebit.
2.2 Can the patient pay all the outstanding balance earlier? Are there any moratorium or penalties for early settlement?
Yes, full early Installment invoice repayment is available anytime fort he client without any penalties. There is no any moratorium for the full early settlement for the clients.
2.3 Are there any Late payment charges for the patient in case of installment repayment delay?
Yes, a late payment charge of RM29 is charged if the installment due is not paid on a due date.
2.4 Can the client make a higher than the other installments payment as #1 installment? Will it affect Installment payment price when using Smart plan?
Yes, client can always make a higher amount payment as #1 installment then the other installments. In this case if Smart plan or Smart plan XL is chosen Curaguru will decrease the overpayment in exact proportion of the actual financed amount decrease (where financed amount is clinic's service price less #1 installment payable to the clinic), comparing to the standard financed amount in case of all equal installments.
3. Cooperation related questions
3.1 What is the min and max financed amount for 1 invoice?
Min is rm300 and Max rm15 000 per 1 invoice. This range will be reviewed from time to time.
3.2 How the clinic will be informed about the result of customer's evaluation?
Curaguru will inform the applicant and the clinic about the results of online application evaluation using an automatic email notification.
In case of approval notification will contain the list of Installment plans available for the patient to choose from. Draft(s) of appropriate Installment invoice(s) will be attached to the email as well.
3.3 Who'll compile Installment invoice?
Curaguru will automatically compile the draft of Installment invoice for each Installment plan option proposed to the patient. Draft(s) of Installment invoice(s) will be attached to the automatic email notification. Patient then will choose and sign the optimal one together with the clinic.
3.4 What would be the patient's next steps after online application approval?
1. Arrange treatment start date together with the clinic.
2. On appropriate day: (i) sign medical agreement and Installment invoice, (ii) pay #1 installment to the clinic, (iii) start getting care (treatment).
3. Ensure enough balance on the bank account to allow monthly installments automatic deduction on the agreed monthly payment day.
3.5 What would be the clinic's next steps after online application approval?
1. Arrange treatment start date together with the patient.
2. On appropriate day: (i) sign medical agreement and Installment invoice, (ii) collect #1 installment to the clinic, (iii) start providing the care (treatment).
3. Initiate signed Installment invoice purchase by Curaguru - by submitting Invoice purchase request at curaguru.com/contacts (see "Invoice purchase request Request"). Online request will require attaching clear scans of the signed medical agreement & Installment invoice only. Online requests will be processed by Curaguru online, Invoice(s) purchase will be processed on a weekly basis (every Monday).
3.6 How Installment invoice financing to clinic is done?
Curaguru will purchase all Installment invoices issued by the clinic in accordance with Curaguru standards on a weekly basis. For that purpose Invoices sale and purchase agreement (SPA) will concluded between Curaguru & clinic on a weekly basis (every Mon). Purchase consideration for the Installment invoice(s) purchased will be transferred to clinic's bank account via bank transfer not later than on the next business day after the appropriate SPA conclusion.
3.7 What if client will make a higher (than the other installments) payment as #1 installment - will Curaguru decrease service fee payable by the clinic?
Yes, Curaguru will decrease the service fee payable by the clinic in exact proportion of the actual financed amount (where financed amount is clinic's service price less #1 installment payable to the clinic) decrease, comparing to the standard financed amount in case of all equal installments.
3.8 What will happen after the Installment invoice purchase by Curaguru?
Patient’ rights and obligations according to the medical agreements will remain unchanged. Patient’ treatment will be considered paid and should be provided by the clinic according to the initially approved treatment plan until its full completion. Outstanding installments will be paid by the patient directly to Curaguru as the new owner of the Invoice.

Should the treatment be paused or canceled or the treatment scope be changed due to any reason - the clinic should immediately inform Curaguru about it via invoice@curaguru.com.
